Sausages and mashed potatoes (aka bangers and mash) would have to be one of the most popular family meals. Savoury snags, creamy mash and some veg – perfect!

Ingredients

  • Mashed potato, to serve

  • 8-10 quality beef, pork, chicken or vegetarian sausages

  • 2 cups frozen peas

  • 2 tbs Gravox Brown Onion Gravy

  • 1 cup (250ml) boiling water

Method

  • Make the best mashed potato.
  • Meanwhile, cook the sausages in a large frying pan over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, for 10-15 mins or until cooked through and browned.
  • Place the peas in a microwave-safe dish and cover. Cook for 4 mins or until hot and just tender.
  • Place the gravy powder in a heatproof jug. Fill with 250ml (1 cup) boiling water. Stir for 1 min to combine and thicken.
  • Place a mound of mashed potato on each serving plate. Top with sausages. Pour over some gravy. Add peas to the plates and serve immediately.

Tips and notes

  • Want more veg? Add steamed broccoli and carrots to the plates.
  • If you like your gravy thicker or thinner, simply add more of the gravy powder, or less, to jug before adding the boiling water.
