In just 30 minutes, you can have dinner on the table for the whole family. And who doesn’t love a good spag bol, eh?
Ingredients
4-6 portions dried spaghetti (see tips)
800g pork and veal mince
700g jar passata
1 large carrot, grated
Chilli flakes, to taste (optional)
1/2 tsp Italian dried herbs
Parmesan, to serve
Parsley, to garnish (optional)
Method
- Cook the spaghetti in a large saucepan of boiling water for 12 minutes, or until al dente. Drain.
- Meanwhile, bring the mince and passata to a simmer in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in the carrot.
- Reduce heat to medium and add chilli flakes (if using) and herbs. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Arrange spaghetti in serving bowls. Spoon over the sauce. Serve topped with parmesan and garnished with parsley, if using.
Tips and notes
- Grate zucchini into the sauce, halfway through cooking, to add more veg. The kids won’t notice it at all.
- Sliced mushrooms added in with the passata is delicious, too.
