Ingredient options

In just 30 minutes, you can have dinner on the table for the whole family. And who doesn’t love a good spag bol, eh?

Ingredients

  • 4-6 portions dried spaghetti (see tips)

  • 800g pork and veal mince

  • 700g jar passata

  • 1 large carrot, grated

  • Chilli flakes, to taste (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp Italian dried herbs

  • Parmesan, to serve

  • Parsley, to garnish (optional)

Method

  • Cook the spaghetti in a large saucepan of boiling water for 12 minutes, or until al dente. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, bring the mince and passata to a simmer in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in the carrot.
  • Reduce heat to medium and add chilli flakes (if using) and herbs. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Arrange spaghetti in serving bowls. Spoon over the sauce. Serve topped with parmesan and garnished with parsley, if using.

Tips and notes

  • Grate zucchini into the sauce, halfway through cooking, to add more veg. The kids won’t notice it at all.
  • Sliced mushrooms added in with the passata is delicious, too.
